Dean joined the army at 17 years of age.... Following in the footsteps of his favorite Uncle he became a paratrooper and an army ranger, Similar to what is known as a Recces in South Africa. He has always had a love for songwriting. He grew up listening to Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash and Don Williams.

Over the years, Dean has written hundreds of songs and recorded in Houston, and Nashville.

Dean’s first release was the album titled “It Ain’t Easy to Kill a Boer,” He felt compelled to write it after watching leaders in South Africa dancing and singing "KILL THE BOER" on YouTube! The first three songs on the album "It Ain't Easy To Kill A Boer" are written for and dedicated to his friends in and from South Africa.

Dean's sophomore album is titled "Black Monday" with five of the eight songs dealing with issues of the day in South Africa. A fellow song writer from South Africa said to Dean not too long ago. "You are writing the songs I wish I could write!"

Dean's latest album is titled "He's A Boer." In this album Dean strikes a lighter tone with feel good songs and ballads.

Dean likes to say although the Rhythms and lyrics are put together by him. The stories and many of the ideas for the songs belong to his South African friends to whom he owes all of the thanks!

Dean has two children in their twenties. Besides songwriting and operating a small business, he enjoys spending time with his family to include the Boston terrier, riding his Harley and hand crafting leather items.
